Interestingly, with Richard Nikoley’s excommunication from Don Wiss’s PaleoDiet.com, I’ve come across a few interesting inconsistencies. For instance, at someone’s (non-paleo) blog recently you can find Don Wiss in the comments defending paleo’s honor but also saying that he will eat rice & potatoes when eating out. Then mentions how he recently added bananas & Larabars to his diet to gain weight. I’m personally a little suspect (winkwinknudgenudge).
That’s not all though, if you go to his website PaleoDiet.com you will come across a link to this blog: PaleoCron which is paleo+calorie restriction. However, should you go & read her current posts you’ll see the consumption of oats & beans on a regular basis. An oversight on Don’s part? Who knows?

Funny stuff. Even being vegan at the moment, I’m probably more paleo than many of these leaders.
Normally my non-paleo exception is raw dairy. But as you probably know… it’s great for growth and pro-biotics. Also accepted by guys like Robb Wolf for these reasons.
At the moment, my only non-paleo item even while being vegan is red beans (maybe quinoa). Even this could be argued since I’m soaking them for days in multiple baths of purified water pre-consumption, then boiling like an indigenous people likely would have done.
I gave in and decided to allow red/black beans during my vegan experiment, since they’re a lesser of evil protein and have good carbs & AOX for my reasonable amount of endurance training I’m doing. IMO, these red/black beans may be better than tree nuts, which as you know are excepted as paleo across the board.
All plants contain poisons. Many wild plants (most around here) require multiple boilings before consumption.
Thanks for stopping by, Grok, & being my first commenter!
I saw on Dean Karnazes’s blog at Runner’s World recently where he wrote about a fruitarian who runs pretty fast marathons & ultras as well as Tim Van Orden who I’m friends with on Facebook. I think it’s ok (and probably beneficial) for awhile, but they’ll run into problems eventually and will have to add some form of animal product to their diet. I know the fruitarian Dean writes about, I’ve seen some of his youtube videos and at 2-3% bf he’s cold all the time. I’ve always wanted to try it & might some day but not anytime soon, lol.
Nice investigation work buddy! Enjoyed that debate myself.
Thanks for stopping by, Dan!
