A nice study came out recently on magnesium’s effect on metabolic & inflammatory markers. A reason I always recommend taking magnesium supplements. The study used 500mg of magnesium citrate daily. CONCLUSION: Magnesium supplementation for 4 wk in overweight individuals led to distinct changes in gene expression and proteomic profiling consistent with favorable effects on several metabolic pathways.

As for olive oil a study recently came out showing more evidence of it’s protective role in atherosclerosis and seems to be dose dependent.
