Progenex: a review

by Chris on January 13, 2012

So, if you are part of the Crossfit community you’ve probably already heard of Progenex and refer to it lovingly as The Sauce (btw, you can use the hashtag #TheSauce to look it up on Twitter). I’ve been aware of it for awhile but it wasn’t until I saw their recent blog post pertaining to Crossfitter Rich Froning, “2011 CrossFit Games Winner Rich Froning Jr on a Shockingly Simple Diet”, that I decided to give it a try.

Enter Progenex Recovery. Belgian Chocolate. A 30-day supply. To be fair, I’ve only been using it for a few days so you’ll only get my initial reactions. First: It’s delicious. I’ve had it by itself with water and stirred with a spoon and I’ve had it blended in my Blendtec with a banana & peanut butter (love this combination). I should add that Progenex recovery does contain a few extra carbs than most protein shakes but not by much.

The biggest drawback is the price. $59.95 for 30 servings which is roughly $2.00 a serving which can add up on a monthly basis if you are drinking more than one a day. But, like they say, you get what you pay for.

Also, I really like the folks who run the company. They have a great social media presence on Twitter and Facebook and are always happy to answer a question and join in the community of fitness enthusiasts.

This will definitely be my goto protein drink from now on.
